Gema is the talking yellow blob that accompanies Dejiko and Puchiko to the Akihabara District, on Earth. Later on, in the Panyo Panyo series, we learn that Gema was assigned to protect Dejiko and Puchiko, ever since they were young. Gema has since then taken on the role of Dejiko and Puchiko's guardian, trying his best to steer Dejiko and Puchiko out of trouble, and imposing his "good kid" morals whenever necessary. Unfortunately, Gema's good nature drives Dejiko absolutely insane -- so poor Gema spends most of his time either being beaten up or fighting with Dejiko. Dejiko feels that Gema is guilty of being "too good", and thus needs to be punished. Even Puchiko delights in smushing and flattening poor Gema. What's a floating yellow blob to do? Unfortunately, not very much.
This floating blob seems to be the one voice of reason in the entire series -- Gema's responsible and worries a lot about Dejiko and Puchiko. When they are offered the rooms above Gamers to live in, it's Gema who protests that they can't take the room for free (which earns him a beating from Dejiko). And when Dejiko hatches a plot to make a naughty manga featuring Minegawa and Kimura, Gema is the one who tells her it's wrong (which earns him yet another beating). Basically, Gema finds little holes and moralistic details in Dejiko's schemes, and ends up getting beaten up, or shot down by her eye laser beam. It's hard to find an episode where these two don't beat up each other, in some measure. And Gema affixes the word "-gema" after all his phrases.
Poor Gema seems to always be on the receiving end of things -- though during one episode, Gema gets knocked into a river and ends up swelling up so much that he looms over the city (as a gigantic yellow blob). A little peeved at Dejiko for beating him up before, he then chases after her, and threatens to squash her flat. How does that end? I'll leave that up to the audience to find out. There's nothing much to say about Gema, but he's a blob! A floating, yellow blob! ^___^;;
